A day at the park

Another day at the office...
First, I got to spend time with little Ms "A" again.  She's been coming to see me for two years now.  I can not believe it's been two years since this little cherub first arrived!  We started at the park...

and then headed back to the studio.  Check out this adorable "2" outfit.  Last year she had a"1" shirt and tutu.  I will be copying the number onesie idea for my little guy on his birthdays (pretty sure the older two won't go for it at this point!). Thanks "J" for a great idea!  And thanks "A" for coming to see me!  You are such a doll!
After "A" was gone I got a little break before I headed back to the park for "D"'s family.  What a great group!  Thanks guys for letting me do some fun shots and for being so very nice.  Here's your preview...
this is what happens when four boys don't know you're taking their pic... natural expressions!
"M"'s pic suggestion - I love it!  Thanks for a great idea "M!"  If you are at a session with me and you see something you think might look great - say something.  Sometimes I'm too wrapped up in watching the light to notice a great opportunity like this!  And who would want to miss this shot?!

Session Previews

A great benefit of the new blog is that I can now give session previews.  The option is now given at each session.  Of course, you don't have to take advantage of this - as I know that some of you prefer to not have your images on the blog.  It is completely up to you.  If you choose to do this, your preview will be posted the day after your session.  As always, the proofing session will be scheduled 10-14 days after your session.

So here's my first family to use the preview option.  This was last night's session.  You guys were great!  Thanks so much for giving me the chance to photograph your wonderful family.

Holiday Cards!

The 2008 Holiday cards are ready!

As with everything around here, there are few explanations that go along with these.  Let's start with the design.  I realize that the name of my business is Carmen Carver Photography & Design.  As a former graphic artist, I usually prefer to do my own designs.  However business is crazy and I simply do not have time to design holiday cards and take pictures and keep my sanity - (well what's left of it anyway).  So this year, I am featuring card designs from Design Aglow.  I love these.  They're a little different from the traditional cards.  That's why I love them.

All 2008 sessions may purchase these cards.  Even if you had a session earlier in the year - you can order cards for your session images without an archival fee.

Contact me with any questions and I will be happy to talk you through the card details.  I know it can get confusing.

Here is a sample from each line.  Click the link below to see the entire line.

Holiday Deadlines

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.  I took a much needed break and disappeared to one of our family's favorite spots with my kids, husband, brothers and parents.  If you tried to get in touch with me during the weekend, I apologize for my absence - sorta.  There are times that I find it necessary to run far away to this spot where phone reception and internet access are nearly non-existent.  It helps my creativity as well as my sanity.

So, now that we are on the other side of Labor Day it's time to talk about the Holidays!  I am currently working on the 2009 Holiday card designs.  Look for the debut of those right here on the blog in the next few days.  For now, I want to talk about holiday deadlines.  This year's deadlines are as follows:

Jewelry and album deadline: Nov 1st
Canvas deadline: Nov 7th
Card deadline: Dec 1st
Print deadline: Dec 8th

There's always a little confusion about deadlines, so here's some clarification:  Deadlines mean that you must order by 11:59 pm on that date to get the item before Christmas.  Of course, you are welcome to order after the deadline but I can't guarantee the delivery date at that point.

Please note - these are the order deadlines NOT the session deadlines.  You will need to book your session at least two weeks before the deadline in order to allow time for processing the proofs.

There is one more important deadline to note - the studio will be closed for the holidays December 17th through January 7th.  I will re-open on Thursday, January 8th.

Any questions?  Feel free to email or call me.

So Labor Day is over and we are now -officially- in Holiday season here at the studio.  Bring on the craziness! (after all, I spent the weekend resting up for this!).
